B-READY
Countries

Since B-Ready began in 2019, the approach has scaled up to more countries and contexts

Indonesia

Indonesia is highly vulnerable to climate change impacts, including extreme events such as floods and droughts, and long-term changes from sea level rise, shifts in rainfall patterns and increasing temperature. Semarang City, Plan International’s project location, has been vulnerable to flooding for centuries.

Globally, the Philippines is the third most disaster-prone country. The B-READY project implemented its interventions in the Municipality of Salcedo in Eastern Samar province throughout a first pilot phase and a second phase focusing on institutionalizing the forecast-based cash transfers at the level of local authorities and government.

Sudan

For more than three decades, North Darfur State, in Sudan has been facing a prolonged crisis that is punctuated by social disturbances and general insecurity, overlapping with ethnic and inter-community conflicts, as disputes over resources, rain shortage and seasonal rain floods occurring almost annually and forcing residents to displace.
