Impact-Based
Forecast Models

We combined local knowledge with Impact-based forecast modelling to create something truly impactful

The B-Ready approach

What is an index?

An index is a quantifiable parameter which captures the interaction between a geophysical phenomenon (such as flood/tropical cyclone, etc.) and an asset (communities, buildings, etc.). The index has a trigger that is activated when the likelihood of impact in the defined area passes a pre-defined threshold. This threshold considers both the severity of the event (its footprint)and the vulnerability of those exposed, developed in partnership with practitioners and communities.

The Intensity or footprint of the hazard.

Asset and location data.

Integration of hazard and geography, transformation into an objective quantity.
